Our Mission

Rose City Learning Center opens pathways for adult learners to achieve their educational goals and strengthen their financial stability.

Creating Pathways to Opportunity

Rose City Learning Center empowers adults through education, workforce development, and individualized support that creates pathways to employment, continued education, and greater financial stability.

Based in Norwich, Connecticut, RCLC is a community-based nonprofit built around a simple belief: every adult deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a more secure future.

Why We Started

Rose City Learning Center began with three educators who shared a passion for education and a belief in its power to change lives.

Through our work in education and in the Norwich community, we met adults who were motivated to learn and move forward but didn't always have a clear pathway to get there. Some wanted to improve their English. Others needed a high school equivalency diploma, help finding employment, support navigating education or career training, or simply someone who could help them figure out what to do next.

We saw that the barriers adults faced rarely fit neatly into a single program.

So we created something different.

RCLC opened its doors in 2024 as a place where adults could come as they are, tell us where they want to go, and find people willing to help them take the next step.

What started as an idea has grown into a learning community serving hundreds of adults—but that personal approach remains at the center of everything we do.

Our Approach

At RCLC, we recognize that every learner starts in a different place and has a different definition of success.

For one person, success may mean having the confidence to speak English at work. For another, it may mean earning a high school equivalency diploma, creating a first resume, entering career training, finding a better job, learning to use technology, or continuing their education.

We start by listening.

Our team gets to know our learners—their strengths, their goals, and the barriers standing in their way. We combine education with individualized support and strong community partnerships to help each person identify a realistic path forward.

We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all pathway. We help each learner build their own.

More Than a Classroom

Education is at the heart of RCLC, but our work often extends beyond the classroom.

A learner may be making tremendous progress academically while struggling with transportation, technology, childcare, employment, finances, or navigating an unfamiliar system. Those challenges can quickly become barriers to reaching a larger goal.

We don't try to be everything to everyone. Instead, we build strong partnerships with organizations throughout our community and help learners connect with trusted people and resources when they need additional support.

Sometimes moving forward begins with a class. Sometimes it begins with a conversation, a connection, or simply knowing where to turn.

Our Vision

We envision a community where every adult has access to the education, skills, resources, and opportunities they need to achieve their goals and build greater economic stability.

When adults move forward, families and communities move forward with them.
